Job Title: Mental Health Classroom Assistant

Axcis Education are thrilled to working with a SEND school based in Taunton who are looking for a full-time teaching assistant to support students across the school and year groups. The school caters to children who have SEMH needs therefore experience working with similar individuals is essential. The ideal candidate will be calm, patient and compassionate. The hours for this role are 8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday and the hourly rate of pay starts at £14.66. Responsibilities for this role include: • Provide one-on-one support to students with challenging behaviours and SEMH, both inside and outside the classroom. • Assist teaching staff in implementing individualised behaviour management strategies and interventions. • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their social and emotional well-being. • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team as needed. • Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported. The schools pride themselves on taking a nurturing approach to overcoming barriers to personal and boosting academic progress - whether that be in the classroom or through activities such as Learning Through Adventure. They aim to help their young people develop self-awareness, and self-worth and the ability to self-regulate and live independently. Requirements for this role include a passion for supporting students with SEND, strong communication and written English skills, Right to Work in UK.
