Job Title: Primary Autism Teaching Assistant for Inclusive School
We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team in the role of supporting the Primary Autism Class attached to a mainstream school. The class caters for KS1 and KS2 pupils and has a range of needs and behaviours. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to provide support to pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within the mainstream school setting. You will be responsible for supporting individual pupils, as well as small groups, to help them to access the curriculum and develop their social and communication skills. Key Responsibilities: • Supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within the mainstream school setting • Providing 1:1 support to pupils with complex needs and behaviours • Working collaboratively with the class teacher and other professionals to plan and deliver tailored interventions • Supporting pupils with their social and communication skills • Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment Requirements: • Relevant experience working with pupils with ASD, particularly in a mainstream setting • Understanding of the needs and behaviours of pupils with ASD • Experience of working with pupils with complex needs and behaviours • Knowledge of strategies and interventions to support pupils with ASD • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work as part of a team Desirable: • Relevant qualification in teaching, childcare or SEN • Training in Autism and/or Behaviour Management • Knowledge of the National Curriculum If you are enthusiastic, passionate and have the relevant experience and qualifications, we would love to hear from you.
