This role involves providing tailored support to a pupil with complex needs, including ADHD, trauma, and exposure to criminal exploitation. Position: Special Needs Teaching Assistant Location: Eastville, Bristol Start Date: September Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term About the Role: Working closely with the school's head teacher and SENCO, you will be responsible for supporting a pupil with a completely bespoke curriculum. This student often receives education outside of the classroom and requires personalized attention to thrive academically and emotionally. As a "cheeky chappie" with ADHD and a history of trauma, the pupil needs a resilient, kind, and proactive individual to provide consistent support. Key Responsibilities: • Implementing a tailored curriculum to meet the specific needs of the student. • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the student to facilitate learning and emotional growth. • Providing practical support, including cooking, and engaging in physical activities like football and basketball. • Motivating the student to participate in learning activities and complete assigned tasks. • Collaborating with the school's multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic support for the student's social, emotional, and academic development. Requirements: • Previous experience working with children or young adults with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, preferably in an educational setting. • Resilience, patience, and empathy in supporting students who have experienced trauma or adversity. • Confidence in managing challenging behaviors and de-escalating tense situations. • Flexibility and willingness to adapt teaching strategies to meet the evolving needs of the student. • Relevant qualifications or training in special education, mental health, or trauma-informed care (desirable but not essential).
