Job Title: Autism Experience SEND Teaching Assistant (Secondary)
Axcis Education is working on behalf of a large, modern Secondary School in Barnet to recruit a Teaching Assistant for their specialist Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) provision. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a proactive and friendly nature, who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with ASD.
The school is a vibrant and inclusive environment, with excellent facilities and a highly supportive staff team. The ASD provision supports around 7 students per year group, providing a tailored approach to their educational and social development. All students have EHCP's so previous experience with EHCp's is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing 1:1 support to students with ASD, ensuring they can fully access the curriculum and reach their potential
Assisting with group sessions, helping with social interaction and promoting teamwork within the ASD provision
Supporting teachers in implementing EHCP's to meet the needs of each student
Creating a positive and inclusive environment that nurtures student independence and personal growth
Collaborating with the wider school team to ensure seamless support across the school day
Requirements:
Previous experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ideally in a secondary school setting
A proactive, flexible approach to meeting the varied needs of students
Strong communication skills and a friendly, compassionate demeanour
A genuine passion for supporting young people with special educational needs
