Axcis Education is seeking to recruit an experienced Autism Support Assistant with the personal qualities it takes to excel in this role. Easily accessible by public transport and with a large staff car park, this school in North Bristol is convenient for public transport users and drivers alike. This school aims to provide a calm, supportive and safe environment for all students. You will be supported by a large, professional and caring staff body in a school environment where every young person is treated with respect. Supporting a collaborative approach between families and professionals, your understanding of how Autism affects young people affected, and their wider networks, will be beneficial to your progression in this post. This is a new and purpose-built school with fantastic facilities which include those for therapeutic and sensory purposes. This is a full-time and long-term role with working hours between 08:30 and 15:15 Monday-Friday during term-time. On a daily basis, the successful autism support assistant will be working on a 1-1 in basis to support the academic and social development of the students who attend the school, particularly across the lower key stages. Your support will be essential in helping the student develop communication skills and navigate social interaction. To be successful in your application for this Autism Support Assistant post, you will need: • A positive, hard-working outlook and the ability to undertake a collaborative approach to support for students at the school • Experience of working with young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a professional or personal capacity • Ideally, a year of experience in a classroom-based special educational needs role, or within a different sector such as Youth Work or Residential Care • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support pupil progress. A relevant qualification such as NCFE CACHE Level 2/3 ‘Supporting Teaching and Learning’ would be highly beneficial.
