Job Title: Full Time SEMH TA
Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant (SEMH)
SEMH Secondary School | Ages 11–16 (Primary Level Support)
Full-time | Monday to Friday | 8.30am – 4.30pm
Long-term, ongoing role
We are working with a well-established SEMH Secondary School who are seeking a confident and committed Teaching Assistant (TA) / Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team full-time.
You will be supporting a small group of 3–4 students in the classroom, working alongside a class teacher and an additional TA. Although the students are of secondary age (11–16), the academic work is delivered at a primary level due to delays in progress and development.
About the Role:
Support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Some students may present with additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, and PDA
Follow the teacher’s lead and contribute to a consistent, structured learning environment
Build meaningful, positive relationships with students to support engagement
Encourage responsible choices and help students understand actions and consequences
Promote both academic development and emotional regulation
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working in SEMH or behavioural settings
Confidence, resilience, and a calm, firm but fair approach
Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to motivate disengaged learners
Willingness to take direction and work collaboratively as part of a team
A good understanding of de-escalation techniques and behaviour support strategies
