Job Role: Functional Skills Teacher/ Tutor
Part-time: Job Share, Mondays and Fridays (sometimes a third day)
Multiple Locations: Exeter
Are you passionate about inspiring individuals to achieve their full potential? We are looking for a motivated Functional Skills Tutor to deliver engaging and impactful learning experiences in Exeter. The successful candidate will be delivering Maths and English from level 1 - 3 to small groups of students with SEND needs in an alternative provision. Resources, materials and planning are all provided you may need to adapt teaching for different students. You will be working from 9:00 - 4:30, delivering 5 sessions in a day with a 20 minute break between each lesson to write development reports as well as 30 minutes at the end of each day for PPA time.
This is a job share, you will be working every Monday and Friday and sometimes a Tuesday or Thursday.
The college take a holistic approach to education whereby there is an element of personal development involved designed to empower and encourage students to be as independent as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work as part of a collaborative team to deliver structured programmes in Functional Skills, including Maths, English.
• Assess the individual needs of current and prospective learners to ensure tailored and effective support.
• Deliver to small groups or provide one-to-one sessions, adapting your approach to meet the needs of your students.
• Deliver sessions that enhance life skills and prepare learners for employment.
• Maintain records of student progress, ensuring that each learner’s progress is clearly tracked and reported.
Experience delivering Functional Skills previously is essential, and experience working with SEND students and being a driver is desirable, due to the rural nature of East Devon.
