About the opportunity Graduates placed through this programme will work as SEN Learning Support Assistants, supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis. Pupils may have a range of additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, ADHD, or more complex learning profiles. Axcis is supporting schools across both primary and secondary phases, so placements can be tailored depending on your preference and experience. This role offers meaningful classroom experience and insight into: How children with additional needs learn and engage The practical application of teaching strategies and differentiation The rhythm and routine of school life The teamwork behind effective teaching — including collaboration with teachers, therapists, and other support staff This is not a teacher training programme — but for those who enjoy the experience and want to pursue teaching, many of the schools offer progression into training routes via a well-respected provider. Who is this for? This role is ideal for graduates who are: Interested in a future career in education or child development Curious about inclusive teaching and working with pupils with additional needs Looking for real-world school experience to inform their next steps Reflective, adaptable and willing to learn Comfortable getting involved and building relationships with young people While prior experience in schools or care is always a bonus, it’s not essential — what matters most is your attitude, curiosity and commitment to supporting young people.
