Job Title: Outdoor Education Instructor - September 2025 - Torbay
Axcis Education is cooperating with a highly regarded Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school in the Torbayrea, that caters to students with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school is known for its commitment to providing outstanding and tailored educational experiences to its students, helping them to enhance their skills, confidence, and love of learning through an array of specialised programs. The school hours are 8.30-16.00 (term time only). The role is to start in September 2025, or sooner if possible. The rate of pay will be between £115 - £160 per day, depending on your previous experience, or against the Teacher's Main Pay Scale for Outdoor Education teachers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging outdoor educational programs that meet the needs of students with ASD.
- Create and manage a safe outdoor learning environment.
- Assess and record student progress, adapting programs to cater to individual learning needs.
- Foster a love of the natural world and encourage environmental awareness among students.
- Work collaboratively with other teaching staff to integrate outdoor learning with classroom activities.
- Liaise with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and development.
Requirements
- Proven experience in outdoor education or a related field.
- Experience working with individuals with ASD or within a school-based environment preferred.
- Relevant qualifications in outdoor education, teaching, or special education needs.
- A strong understanding of health and safety practices in an outdoor setting.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake this process).
