Axcis Education are currently looking for a compassionate, patient, and experienced tutor to work in a primary school with children exhibiting challenging behaviour. You will provide 1:1 and small group tuition in core subjects such as English, maths, and other areas, helping children overcome barriers to learning and build confidence.
Role Overview:
As a tutor working with children who have challenging behaviour, your main focus will be to help students engage with the curriculum, especially in core subjects like English, while creating a positive and supportive learning environment. You will use a range of strategies to manage behaviour, build rapport, and ensure each child can succeed academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group tutoring sessions in core subjects, with a particular focus on English.
• Develop engaging lesson plans that cater to the unique learning needs of each child.
• Implement effective behaviour management strategies to create a focused, supportive, and nurturing learning environment.
• Collaborate with school staff to track students’ progress, adapt teaching methods, and address any challenges.
• Establish positive relationships with students, building trust and encouraging a love of learning.
• Support students with a range of learning difficulties, including those with behavioural challenges, fostering their emotional and social development.
• Provide regular feedback to parents, caregivers, and school staff regarding student progress.
Essential Requirements:
• Proven experience working with children, particularly those with challenging behaviour.
• A strong understanding of child development and educational needs, especially within primary school age groups.
• Experience in teaching core subjects, particularly English, in a way that engages and motivates students.
• Strong behaviour management skills, with the ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, parents, and school staff.
• A passion for education and a commitment to making a positive impact on students' lives.
• Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) or a relevant tutoring qualification is preferred but not required.
• Experience working with children with SEN or additional support needs is a plus.
