### Job Title: Part-Time Tutor ### Location: Preston, Lancashire ### Job Type: Contract (3-4 weeks, immediate start) #### About the Position: We are currently seeking a dedicated part-time tutor for a unique teaching opportunity in Preston, Lancashire. The student is a 7-year-old child who has been permanently excluded from school. The child has a history of being previously looked after and is now in an adopted home. We are looking for an individual with a strong understanding of child development and special educational needs. Tutoring sessions are expected to take place outside of the child's home. #### Job Responsibilities: - Provide one-on-one tutoring for a 7-year-old child for 2 hours per day. - Create engaging lesson plans suitable for the child’s academic level, which is approximately 4-5 years. - Employ strategies to maintain the child’s attention and make learning an enjoyable experience. - Assess the child's progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly to best support their learning journey. - Collaborate with the child’s parent to keep them informed of progress and any challenges. - Monitor the child’s behaviour and apply appropriate techniques to manage it during sessions. - Prepare necessary teaching materials and resources that accommodate the child’s learning needs. #### Qualifications: - Experience in teaching or tutoring at primary level, with a track record of handling children with additional needs. - A patient, compassionate, and resilient attitude, especially towards children with attention-span challenges. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage a young learner. - Degree in Education, Special Education, Child Psychology, or a related field is preferred. - Enhanced DBS check (the employer can provide this if not already in possession). - A proactive approach in creating an effective learning environment outside of the child’s home. #### Additional Information: This position is deemed to be short term and may range from 3 to 4 weeks, depending on how quickly the child is admitted to a new school.
