We are currently seeking a motivated and passionate Psychology Graduate or Student to join our team as a Teaching Assistant in Poole, Dorset. This role is ideal for individuals who are interested in Special Education Needs (SEN) and who wish to gain hands-on experience working with children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
Responsibilities
- Provide support and guidance to students with SEMH, ADHD, and ASC, helping them to engage in learning and achieve their full potential.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of educational materials and activities under the direction of the class teacher.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to understand the educational, social, and emotional needs of each student.
- Help create an inclusive and safe learning environment where all students feel valued and are able to thrive.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to student evaluations.
- Assist with behavior management strategies in the classroom to ensure a constructive learning atmosphere.
- Participate in training and development opportunities related to SEN and the role of a Teaching Assistant.
Requirements
- Must be a recent graduate or current student in Psychology or a related field.
- A genuine passion for education and making a positive impact on the lives of young people.
- An understanding of or interest in SEN, specifically SEMH, ADHD, and ASC.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team in a classroom setting.
- Patience, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Must be able to undertake an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references.
