Teaching Assistant (Suitable for Psychology Graduates/Students) Bournemouth, Dorset Full Time or Part-time, Temporary to Permanent Working Hours: 08:30 - 16:00 Start Date: January Are you a passionate and dedicated Psychology Graduate or Student looking to gain invaluable experience within an educational setting? Do you have an interest or experience in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) specifically related to SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), and ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition)? If so, you might be the candidate we are looking for to join a vibrant SEND school in Bournemouth as a Teaching Assistant. Key Responsibilities: - Deliver tailored learning activities designed by the lead teacher to small groups or on a one-to-one basis. - Assist in the development of educational materials that cater to the different needs of pupils with SEMH, ADHD, and ASC. - Establish rapport and supportive relationships with students to facilitate a constructive learning environment. - Work collaboratively with the lead teacher to monitor the progress of students and implement strategies to enhance their learning outcomes. - Employ behavior management strategies effectively and in accordance with the school’s policy. - Offer emotional support and guidance to students facing challenges related to their conditions. - Contribute to the planning and execution of school events and activities relevant to your student group. - Attend and participate in school meetings and continuous professional development sessions. Requirements: - A degree in Psychology or currently studying towards a degree in Psychology. - Eager to develop skills pertinent to a future career in clinical psychology or a related field. - Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with students and staff at all levels. - A proactive approach with a willingness to adapt to different educational needs and environments. - Prior experience working with children, especially in an SEND setting, is desirable but not essential. - A commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment. - Eligibility to work in the UK.
