Job Title: Secondary School Teacher
With Axcis being the leading specialist SEND agency, we work in close partnership with many special schools such as this client in Gloucester, who are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary School Teacher to join the existing fantastic team. With the school hvaing a commitment to excellence and alongside a very supportive Senior Leadership Team (SLT), this super school offer excellent prospects for professional growth and a collaborative workplace atmosphere. As a Secondary School Teacher in this special school, you will be responsible for teaching a diverse group of pupils across various subjects while following the primary curriculum with a class size of approx. 5-10 pupils alongside 3 or 4 Teaching assistants per class. This is a dynamic and rewarding role that requires compassion, resilience, and the ability to manage challenging behaviours effectively due to the students previous trauma experienced and the effect this has had on their Social and Emotional And Mental Health Needs. The key responsibilities of the role: - Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the needs of students with SEMH. - Use creative teaching strategies to inspire and motivate students. - Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning. - Apply behaviour management strategies effectively, handling challenging behaviours with patience and understanding. - Assess and record students’ progress, providing feedback and working closely with other professionals to tailor support. - Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and other SEN professionals to enhance learning outcomes. - Participate in school meetings, training sessions, and other professional development activities. - Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, guardians, and the wider school community. - Support school activities, trips, and events that enrich the educational experience. Requirements of the right candidate: - Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. - Proven experience teaching secondary-aged students with challenging behaviours and SEMH. - A deep understanding of the SEN sector and the primary curriculum. - Exceptional classroom management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - A commitment to continuous professional development. - A resilient, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching.
