Job Title: Secondary Science Teacher Location: Newton Abbot, Teignbridge, Devon Job Summary: Axcis Education is currently coordinating with a mainstream secondary school located in Newton Abbot, Teignbridge, Devon, to find a qualified and passionate Secondary Science Teacher. The ideal candidate may also be a Physical Education Teacher who specialises in sports science. This position will initially be offered on a supply basis through to Christmas, with the possibility of extension depending on performance and school needs. The role offers a fulfilling opportunity to impart knowledge and inspire secondary school students in the sciences. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and deliver engaging and informative science lessons that adhere to the national curriculum and school policies. - Assess and evaluate student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents. - Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs and interests of students. - Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student well-being and learning. - Collaborate with colleagues and participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions. - Manage classroom behavior effectively, ensuring a safe and supportive atmosphere. - Contribute to the science department's extracurricular activities and initiatives. Job Requirements: - A recognized teaching qualification, such as PGCE, QTS, or equivalent, with a focus on Science or Physical Education. - Previous experience working in a secondary school setting is essential. - Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for teaching science to young learners. - A positive and proactive mindset with the ability to inspire and motivate students. - Strong classroom management skills and the ability to handle challenging situations with composure. - Efficient organizational skills and the ability to plan lessons effectively. - A commitment to ongoing professional development and learning. Working Hours: The role will encompass standard school hours from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Salary: The rate of pay for this position will be between £145 to £195 per day, depending on your previous experience and qualifications.
