Job Title: Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Islington
Hours: Mon-Fri 8am-4pm
Pay £85 upwards per day
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant secondary school in Islington. This full-time role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support to a student with ASD who exhibits challenging behavior.
The school is seeking a confident and proactive individual who can build a trusting and supportive relationship with the student while maintaining firm boundaries to help them engage positively with their learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with a student on a 1:1 basis, supporting them in accessing the curriculum and navigating their school day.
Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behavior in a calm and effective manner.
Create a structured and supportive environment to encourage social, emotional, and academic growth.
Liaise with teaching staff, SENCOs, and parents to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach to the student’s development.
About You:
Experience working with students with ASD, particularly in a secondary school setting.
Strong behavior management skills, with the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
A nurturing and empathetic approach, balanced with a firm and consistent attitude.
A willingness to adapt and respond to the individual needs of the student.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff and parents.
