About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our committed team, supporting students with severe and profound learning difficulties (PMLD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at a secondary school level. This role involves working closely with pupils who require significant support in their educational and personal development. The position will include aspects of personal care, so a caring, patient, and respectful approach is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-on-one and group support to students with severe needs, helping them engage with their learning activities.
• Assist with personal care needs, including toileting and hygiene, while maintaining dignity and respect for each pupil.
• Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and other staff to implement and adapt teaching strategies tailored to each student’s needs.
• Use effective verbal communication skills to foster a supportive learning environment.
• Promote social interaction and development through personalised support.
Requirements:
• Previous experience in SEN, care, or similar roles is highly desirable.
• Child and Adult DBS clearance is required (enhanced DBS check preferred).
• Strong verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate clearly and patiently with both students and staff.
• A genuine interest in working with young people who have complex needs, along with a commitment to inclusive education.
