Job Summary:
A specialist SEND school located in Poole, Dorset is seeking a passionate and experienced SEND Teacher to join their team. The school caters to students with a diverse range of needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The school is dedicated to providing an inclusive education that supports individual student needs within a nurturing environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering high-quality education to small classes, each supported by a dedicated Teaching Assistant. Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to the individual needs of students with SEMH, ASC, and ADHD.
- Create a safe, positive, and stimulating classroom environment that fosters learning and promotes the emotional well-being of all students.
- Work closely with a dedicated Teaching Assistant to manage classroom activities and ensure each student receives the support they need.
- Differentiate instruction to cater to the varied learning styles and abilities within the class.
- Employ effective behavior management strategies to maintain a structured learning atmosphere.
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
- Collaborate with other teaching staff, professionals, and parents to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
- Participate in school meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings as required.
- Engage in the school's extensive Continual Professional Development (CPD) programs to further enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification recognized in the UK.
- Demonstrable experience working with children with SEND, including SEMH, ASC, and ADHD.
- Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and experience developing and implementing IEPs.
- Proven ability to manage challenging behavior and create a positive learning environment.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills to work effectively with staff, students, and parents.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to engage in training opportunities provided by the academy group.
