Salary: From £92.63 per day.
Teaching Assistant – SEMH & Complex Needs | Year 7 | 1:1 Support

We are currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Year 7 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and complex learning needs in a supportive and inclusive all-through special school environment in Sutton.
This rewarding role is ideal for candidates with experience in SEMH, SEND, behaviour support, youth work, care, mental health support, alternative provision, or special educational needs education.
Key Responsibilities
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 7 pupil with SEMH and complex needs.
• Implement strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and behaviour support plans.
• Support the pupil's academic, social, emotional, and personal development.
• Assist in managing challenging behaviours using positive behaviour management techniques.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure consistent support.
• Building a trusting and positive relationship with the student.
• Responding calmly and effectively to challenging situations when they arise.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND, ASD, ADHD, complex needs, or behavioural challenges.
• Is calm, patient, empathetic, and resilient.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is proactive and able to respond effectively to changing situations.
• Is passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential.
• Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience (desirable but not essential).
• Has an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
