Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Position: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant
Location: Sutton, London
Employment Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am-3:30pm
Salary: £90-95 per day
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our professional and supportive team in Sutton, London. In this role, you will provide support to students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities within a classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the SEN coordinator and class teachers.
• Support students with educational activities, ensuring they can engage fully in learning and attain their educational goals.
• Work with individual pupils or small groups to address specific learning needs, whether that be on an academic, social, or emotional basis.
• Prepare learning materials under the supervision of the teacher and provide feedback to staff on students' progress and challenges.
• Promote the inclusion of all pupils in the classroom, helping them to develop independence and confidence.
• Manage student behaviour in the classroom and on school premises, and apply behaviour management strategies effectively.
• Participate in training and development activities to enhance own knowledge and skills in relation to the support of SEND pupils.
Essential Qualifications & Attributes:
• Previous experience working with SEND children is preferred.
• Strong understanding of SEND best practices and legal framework.
• Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude towards the education of children with SEND.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding and welfare of children.
