Job Title: SEND Youth Support Worker, Immediate Start
A lovely, well renowned SEND school in between Thornbury and Gloucester are looking for a youth support worker to start after half term supporting students aged 11-16 with social, emotional and mental health needs and Autism.
The school cater for secondary aged children but follow a primary model and the class sizes are approx. 4 per class which is supported by 1 teacher and 2 Teaching Assistants so the opportunity for each student to have a person-centred approach to their learning is possible and this really benefits the pupils.
The children who attend this school can occasionally display challenging behaviour and therefore the school are looking for candidates who are resilient, approachable, compassionate and adaptable. The school has great access to outdoor space and pupils enjoy forest school etc and so people who are happy being outdoors and enjoying learning through doing will work well in this setting.
Due to the remote location of the school, you need to have access to either your own transport daily or be able to get a lift daily and the working hours are Monday to Friday 08.30am -4.30pm. Due to the needs of the learners, the school are really looking for consistency and long term support and so are interested in appointing people who can commit to full time, long term work, ideally until the end of the academic year.
It is worth noting this school very much likes to take the right candidates on permanent and so if you are someone ideally a seeking a permanent position, this could be for you!
The pay is between £95.29 - £105.00 per day and varies dependant on experience etc. You must have a DBS on the update service to work with children and so if you don't have an in date DBS, you would need to obtain one which can be done through us at Axcis.
If you are interested in this very rewarding and fulfilling role, please get in touch by sending your CV to Suzie@Axcis.co.uk asap.
