Job Title: Specialist Teaching Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 specialist Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming SEND school in Dawlish. This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, 8:45am–3:45pm, supporting a pupil throughout the school day. The school is easily accessible, with on-site parking available as well as good public transport links, making it a convenient and rewarding place to work.
The role involves providing 1:1 support for a pupil with complex needs who can display challenging behaviour and requires consistent, patient support. The pupil benefits from quiet time, their own space, support with emotional regulation, sensory play, and clear, calm spoken communication. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is highly empathetic, resilient and adaptable, able to build a trusting relationship and respond sensitively to the child’s individual needs while maintaining clear boundaries and routines.
The school offers an exceptional learning environment with outstanding resources, including a forest school, a sensory room in every classroom, a farm and a hydro-pool. You will be supported by a team of friendly, approachable and experienced staff who work collaboratively to ensure both pupils and staff feel valued. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference within a nurturing and well-resourced SEND setting.
