Job Title: Teaching Assistant for Special Needs College
We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated 1 to 1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join our Specialised SEND College department in St. Helens. In this role, you will have the rewarding opportunity to work closely with learners aged 16-25 who have Autism and other learning difficulties. Your primary responsibility will be to provide personalised support and guidance to these students, assisting them in their educational journey and helping them develop essential life skills. Responsibilities: Provide one-on-one support tailored to individual learners' specific needs and abilities. Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes personal growth and independence. Assist students with running their own café, pre-loved store, and participating in activities such as internships, sustainability projects, and animal care. Support students in acquiring and developing key life skills, including communication, problem-solving, and self-care. Collaborate with college staff to develop individualised learning plans and track student progress. Ensure a safe and secure environment, safeguarding the well-being of all students at all times. Requirements: Experience in youth work or care settings is highly desirable. Understanding of Autism and other learning difficulties is beneficial. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and create a supportive learning atmosphere. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for positively impacting young people's lives. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs and challenges of students. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable individuals. Contract Details: Full-time position, Monday to Friday. Working hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Temporary to permanent contract for the right candidate. Hourly rate: £12.50 - £14.50, depending on experience.
