Job Title: Teaching Assistant Secondary
Axcis are recruiting on behalf of a mainstream secondary school in Southport, who are searching for a teaching assistant to join their team on a full time basis, working 8.30am – 3.30pm Monday to Friday. This would be a temporary position initially, but with potential for a permanent position for the right applicant. As part of the role, you would be working with the school’s SEND team, providing a mix of 1-1 and small group support to children with additional needs within the school. These needs include autism, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), ADHD, learning difficulties and ODD. There is some challenging behaviour within the school, though this is limited as the senior leadership has placed a huge amount of focus on the behaviour policies. Key Responsibilities: • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons. • Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere. • Support students with special educational needs (SEN) in accessing the curriculum. • Assist with classroom management and behaviour management strategies. • Foster a safe and supportive learning environment. • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student progress. To be considered for this role, you must have previous experience working with children in some form, ideally in a school setting. Experience with the SEND needs discussed above would be looked upon favourably. We welcome applicants from a range of professional backgrounds, such as care, residential, coaching, youth work or others. As long as you have previous experience working with children or vulnerable adults, we want to hear from you!
