Job Title: Teaching Assistant – Seizure & Epilepsy Support
SEND TA – Seizure & Epilepsy Support | From £89/day | Barking & Dagenham | September Start | Full Time | Long Term Axcis are recruiting for a compassionate and alert Teaching Assistant to support a primary-aged pupil with epilepsy and complex medical needs in a mainstream school in Barking & Dagenham. The role will begin in September and will require someone with confidence managing seizures or who has experience supporting children with high health or care needs. The school is a friendly, community-led setting, just a short walk from Barking Station and offers on-site parking and strong links with healthcare professionals and the local authority. Rated “Good” by Ofsted, the school has a strong emphasis on inclusion and wellbeing for all learners. In this role, you will be: • Supporting a child 1:1 with epilepsy, ensuring consistent monitoring and safety throughout the school day. • Following medical protocols in the event of a seizure and communicating effectively with staff and families. • Providing academic and emotional support to help the child access learning confidently. • Working closely with the school nurse, SENCo and external professionals to meet care plans. • Supporting with transitions, routines and any additional needs the child may have. What we are looking for: • Experience supporting a child or young person with epilepsy or similar medical needs. • First aid training and/or awareness of seizure care protocols (training can be arranged). • Calm under pressure, with a nurturing and responsive approach. • Comfortable working 1:1 in a classroom environment, supporting learning and wellbeing.
