Job Title: Teaching Assistant SEND
Axcis Education is recruiting for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Skelmersdale from September. This is a part-time position, working Monday to Friday, 9:00am–2:00pm, supporting a small group of KS2 pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) through targeted intervention sessions. There is also the potential for a permanent contract for the successful candidate, depending on the school's ongoing staffing needs. About the Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work with a small group of Key Stage 2 pupils who require additional support to access learning and make progress. Working closely with the class teachers and SENDCO, you will deliver planned interventions, reinforce classroom learning, and help pupils develop their confidence, communication, and independence. The school is looking for a patient, nurturing, and proactive individual who can build positive relationships and adapt their approach to meet the needs of each child. Your responsibilities may include: • Delivering small group interventions in literacy, numeracy, and social development • Supporting pupils with a range of SEND, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties • Encouraging engagement, confidence, and independence • Working alongside teachers to monitor pupil progress • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing • Helping to create a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment About the School This friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school in Skelmersdale is committed to ensuring every child receives the support they need to succeed.
