Teaching Assistant – SEND College (Autism Specialist) Location: Newton-le-Willows (WA12) Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-Time Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 4:30pm Support Young Adults to Build Skills for Life Are you passionate about helping young people with additional needs achieve greater independence and prepare for adulthood? Axcis Education is working with a specialist SEND college in Newton-le-Willows that supports students aged 16–25 with Autism (ASC) and a range of additional learning needs. We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the college on a full-time basis from September 2026. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support students as they develop confidence, independence, employability, and essential life skills through a combination of classroom learning and practical experiences. The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will: • Support students with autism and additional needs in both classroom and vocational learning environments. • Encourage independence, communication, and social interaction. • Assist students with life skills, employability, and enterprise-based activities. • Adapt your support to meet individual EHCP targets and learning goals. • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and self-confidence. • Work collaboratively with tutors, therapists, and other specialist staff to provide outstanding support. Students benefit from a hands-on curriculum that includes activities such as running a student-led café, horticulture and outdoor projects, community engagement, and employability programmes designed to prepare them for adult life. What We're Looking For We're keen to hear from candidates who: • Have experience supporting young people with autism and/or additional learning needs (desirable but not essential). • Are patient, empathetic, and committed to helping others succeed. • Have an interest in practical, vocational, and life skills education. • Are confident supporting students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups. • Possess excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team. • Are reliable, adaptable, and passionate about making a positive difference.
