Job Title: Learning Support Assistant - Secondary
Teaching Assistant – Key Stages 3 & 4 (SEMH & Behaviour Support)
Location: Harrow | Full-Time | Term-Time Only

A mainstream secondary school in Harrow is seeking a dedicated and confident Teaching Assistant to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
About the Role
You’ll play a vital role in supporting students who face emotional and behavioural challenges, helping them stay engaged, regulated, and on track—academically and personally. Working both 1:1 and in small groups, you’ll support classroom routines, deliver targeted interventions, and promote positive behaviour strategies.
This is a collaborative role where you’ll work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and the pastoral team to ensure students receive consistent, nurturing support tailored to their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
Support students with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges in KS3 & KS4
Implement behaviour support plans and apply de-escalation strategies
Facilitate emotional regulation, coping techniques, and resilience building
Build strong, consistent relationships that support trust and engagement
Encourage academic focus and foster positive peer interactions
Contribute to a structured, calm, and inclusive classroom environment
What We’re Looking For
Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour (school or similar setting)
Confident with behaviour management and remaining calm under pressure
Empathetic, proactive, and committed to student wellbeing
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches (desirable)
Relevant qualifications (e.g. TA Level 2/3, Team Teach, SEMH training) are beneficial but not essential
