Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
About the Role
Axcis Education is working in partnership with a well-established SEND school in Northolt, Ealing, to recruit a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to support secondary-aged pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) for an immediate start.
This is a full-time role supporting students with complex medical, physical, and learning needs, requiring a candidate who is confident delivering both educational support and high-level personal care in a structured and nurturing environment.
Experience with hoisting/manual handling and feeding support, including PEG feeding (or willingness to be trained), is essential to meet the needs of the students.
Key Responsibilities
-Provide 1:1 and group support for secondary pupils with PMLD and complex needs
-Deliver personal care, including toileting, hygiene, and physical support
-Support students with feeding, including PEG feeding where required
-Safely use hoisting and manual handling equipment in line with care plans
-Assist with sensory and personalised learning activities
-Use communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, and non-verbal cues
-Work closely with teachers, therapists, and medical staff
-Monitor and record student progress, wellbeing, and care needs
-Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment
Requirements
-Experience supporting secondary-aged students with PMLD or complex SEND
-Hoisting/manual handling experience is essential
-Experience with personal care and feeding routines
-PEG feeding experience (or willingness to be trained) highly desirable
-Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication methods
-Patient, resilient, and compassionate approach
-Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service
-Ability to start immediately and commit to full-time hours
