Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Bromley, South London
From Tuesday 1st September. 8:30am – 4pm (Term Time Only). Temp to Perm.
From £92.63 per day.
Axcis are seeking to appoint a dynamic Teaching Assistant to join the staff of this very successful and respected special school for pupils aged 7-19. This school is based in a lovely area in Bromley.
This teaching assistant role offers the exciting prospect of working within small classes with a qualified SEND Teacher. As the teaching assistant, you will be working in a small KS2 class providing support to the young learners. The successful applicant will be able to work within a child centred classroom, be a team player, place high emphasis on learning and teaching and have a flexible yet friendly attitude towards their work. It is advantageous if you are familiar with Makaton and PECS.
Duties of the role include:
• Providing dedicated support to a student with limited communication.
• Calmly and effectively dealing with challenging behaviours and situations.
• Communicating effectively using Makaton signing or PECS.
The successful candidate will have:
• Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND needs in a classroom setting.
• The ability to use Makaton or PECS for communication.
• Resilience when faced with challenging situations.
• Patience and enthusiasm when working with a young people.
• Relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualifications are desirable.
