Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and caring Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic team on a day-to-day, supply basis in Frome, Somerset. The ideal candidate should have a passion for education and a drive to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to students with SEND under the direction of the classroom teacher or the special educational needs coordinator (SENCO).
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of engaging lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of individual students.
- Help create a nurturing and supportive learning environment that allows all students to thrive and achieve their potential.
- Work with small groups or one-to-one to reinforce learning objectives and assist students in understanding the material.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with the school's behaviour policy.
- Perform administrative duties, such as preparing materials and resources, organizing the classroom, and tracking student progress.
- Attend to the students’ personal needs, including social, health, physical, hygiene, and welfare matters.
- Collaborate with the teaching staff, parents, and other professionals involved in the students' education.
- Engage in continuous professional development to keep up to date with the best practices for supporting students with SEND.
- Ensure the health and safety of students within the classroom and during school activities.
Requirements:
- A valid UK driver's license is essential as the role may involve traveling to different schools within the local area.
- Prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or experience in working with children with SEND is preferred.
- A compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to working with children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
- An up-to-date Enhanced DBS check is required or the willingness to undergo one.
