Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Axcis Education are looking for a dedicated teaching assistant to support students within an alternative mainstream secondary school in Manchester.
This role focuses on helping students with challenging behaviour who are at risk of exclusion. You will provide in-class support across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students stay engaged, manage their behaviour and make progress in their studies.
What you will be doing…
In this role, you will provide general classroom support for students who exhibit challenging behaviour. You will work closely with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, helping to manage behaviour and calmly de-escalate situations when needed. A key part of the role involves encouraging students to stay engaged with their learning, building strong and positive relationships with both students and staff and supporting teachers in creating and maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
The ideal candidate will…
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with students who present challenging behaviour, although this is not essential. You should be patient, calm under pressure, and capable of managing difficult situations with confidence. A proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. A genuine passion for helping students succeed and remain engaged in their education is crucial. While experience working across KS3 and KS4 is desirable, it is not a strict requirement for the role.
