Job Title: Teaching Assistant
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated teaching assistant to provide 1-to-1 support for a 12-year-old student with autism and severe learning difficulties (SLD) at a specialist school in Manchester.
You will work closely with the child to help them engage with their learning, develop key life skills and support their emotional and social development in a safe and nurturing environment.
About the Role
*Provide one-to-one support for a 12-year-old student with autism and SLD
*Help the student access the curriculum and engage in classroom activities
*Support the student’s social and emotional development
*Work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to create a personalised learning plan
*Assist with communication and behavioural strategies to encourage positive engagement
*Promote independence and help the student develop life skills
*Ensure the child’s safety and wellbeing at all times

About You
*Experience working with children with autism and severe learning difficulties is desirable
*Patient, calm and able to build a positive relationship with the student
*Willingness to use behaviour management techniques and communication aids
*Passionate about making a difference in the life of a child with special educational needs
*Experience in a similar role or educational setting is beneficial but not essential
