Teaching Assistant – SEND Primary (ASC & SEMH)
Location: Bournemouth
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £90–£95 per day
Contract Type: Full-Time (Term Time Only)
School Type: Specialist SEND Primary School
Are you a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role in a specialist primary school? We are seeking a dedicated TA to join a supportive SEND setting in Bournemouth this September, working full-time with pupils who have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with children who require consistent support, patience, and encouragement to help them thrive in a safe and structured environment.
About the Role:
You will work alongside teachers and support staff to deliver targeted support to pupils aged 5–11, helping them to build confidence, develop positive relationships, and engage with learning. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and benefit from a calm, nurturing approach. Some children have experienced trauma or disrupted schooling and need an adult who can offer stability, clear boundaries, and emotional regulation support.
The role involves both classroom-based and small group or 1:1 support. A background in psychology, youth work, or mental health support is desirable, as is knowledge of SEMH and behaviour regulation strategies.
About the School:
This is a welcoming and well-resourced specialist primary school with a strong reputation for inclusion, emotional support, and positive behaviour practice. The staff team is experienced and committed, and the school prioritises professional development, with regular training, supervision, and reflective practice sessions provided. The Senior Leadership Team is supportive, visible, and passionate about staff well-being and pupil success.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience working with children with ASC and/or SEMH
Understanding of behaviour support strategies and emotional regulation
A patient, calm, and empathetic approach
Resilience and the ability to manage challenging situations professionally
A background in psychology, education, youth work or care (desirable)
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
What We Offer:
Competitive daily rate of £90–£95
Full-time role with potential for long-term opportunities
A strong and supportive staff team
Ongoing CPD and opportunities to develop specialisms
The chance to make a lasting difference in pupils’ school experience
