Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant – Special Educational Needs (SEND)
Location: Plymouth
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £14.25–£15.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time | Term Time Only

We are recruiting dedicated Teaching Assistants to join a specialist school supporting both primary and secondary-aged students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), Autism (ASD), and ADHD.
This is a highly rewarding role where you'll play a vital part in helping students overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.
The Role:
Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
Provide consistent, nurturing support throughout the school day.
Help manage challenging behaviour using a calm, patient, and proactive approach.
Work closely with teachers and the wider SEND team to create a positive learning environment.
Encourage independence, emotional regulation, and social development.
What We're Looking For:
Experience working with children or vulnerable adults is essential.
Alternatively, transferable skills from care, support work, youth work, mental health, or similar settings, alongside a good understanding of SEND.
Resilient, confident, and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
A nurturing and compassionate approach with a genuine passion for supporting young people.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A willingness to learn and adapt to the individual needs of each student.
