Job Title: Behaviour Support Mentor
We are seeking a dedicated, resilient and compassionate Behaviour Support Mentor to join a Pupil Referral Unit in Burnham on a full-time, term-time basis. Working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm, this rewarding role offers a daily rate of £92.63 and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of secondary-aged pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education. You will work closely with students who may present with social, emotional and mental health needs, challenging behaviour and a range of barriers to learning. Providing support on both a one-to-one basis and in small groups, you will help pupils rebuild confidence, develop positive behaviours and re-engage with education. A key aspect of the role is becoming a trusted and consistent adult presence, supporting young people to regulate their emotions, build healthy relationships and make positive choices for their future. Success in this position requires a calm and confident approach, particularly when managing behaviour and responding to challenging situations. You will be able to establish clear and consistent boundaries while maintaining a supportive, respectful and understanding manner. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as many pupils will have experienced disruption or difficulties throughout their educational journey. An interest in sport or physical activity would be advantageous, as these can be valuable tools for engagement, motivation and relationship building. Applications are welcomed from individuals with experience in SEMH support, youth work, sports coaching, social care, prison or probation services, mentoring, or other roles involving behaviour management and support for vulnerable individuals. While relevant experience is beneficial, we are equally interested in candidates who demonstrate resilience, empathy, a positive attitude and a genuine commitment to helping young people overcome challenges and achieve success. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive team environment where your work will have a direct and lasting impact on pupils' personal development, wellbeing and educational outcomes. If you are passionate about supporting young people to reach their potential and thrive despite the challenges they face, we would love to hear from you.
