Job Title: Experienced Mentor
Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant - PRU Location: White City Start Date: March 2025 Duration: Ongoing Hours: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday Are you passionate about supporting young people with complex needs? A welcoming and inclusive PRU near White City station, is seeking a dedicated SEMH teaching assistant to provide one-to-one and group support for pupils aged 13-17. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience working with at-risk youth, who thrives in a dynamic and supportive educational setting. The ideal candidate will be confident in managing challenging behaviour and will have a firm but fair approach. Full-time availability, patience, and an empathetic nature are essential for success in this role. Having a background in mentoring would be very beneficial for this role. Key Responsibilities: -Provide personalised one-to-one and group support for students in the PRU. -Support both academic progress and emotional development of the pupils. -Use de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe and productive learning environment. -Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement individualised care plans. -Maintain accurate records of student progress and any incidents. What We're Looking For: -Experience working with students with SEMH needs or vulnerable youth. -Strong communication and interpersonal skills. -A calm, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to behaviour management. -Proven ability to handle challenging situations professionally and with patience. -Relevant training or certifications (e.g., safeguarding, behaviour management) are highly desirable. Requirements: -Enhanced DBS on the update service. -Prior experience supporting children in a UK educational setting. -Experience working with SEMH students. -Commitment to full-time working hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM). -Ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
