Job Title: SEND Learning Support Assistant
SEND Learning Support Assistant – Mainstream Secondary – Havering
£100–£115 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | ASAP Start
Axcis Education is recruiting a confident and proactive SEND Learning Support Assistant to work within a mainstream secondary school in Havering, supporting students across KS3 and KS4 with a range of additional learning and emotional needs.
This is a full-time, long-term role for someone who is comfortable working across different classrooms and supporting a number of pupils throughout the school day. You may provide 1:1 support, small-group intervention or in-class assistance, depending on the needs of individual students.
The school is looking for someone who can build strong relationships with teenagers while maintaining clear professional boundaries and encouraging pupils to become increasingly independent and confident within the classroom.
About the Role
Supporting students across KS3 and KS4
Working with pupils with Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, SEMH and additional learning needs
Providing a mixture of 1:1, small-group and classroom-based support
Moving between lessons to support different students where required
Helping pupils understand instructions and access classroom tasks
Supporting organisation, focus, communication and emotional regulation
Helping students develop positive relationships with staff and peers
Supporting pupils against individual EHCP targets and SEND strategies
Working alongside teachers and the wider SEND and pastoral team
Encouraging pupils to become increasingly independent in their learning
About You
We would particularly like to hear from candidates who:
Have previous experience as an LSA, SEND TA or secondary support worker
Have worked with secondary-aged pupils
Have experience supporting Autism, ADHD, SEMH or additional learning needs
Have previous school-based SEND experience – strongly preferred
Are confident moving between different classrooms and subject areas
Can quickly build positive working relationships with young people
Understand when to step in and when to encourage independent learning
Are calm, reliable and able to use initiative
Hold a CACHE Level 2 or Level 3 qualification – desirable but not essential
Can commit to a full-time, long-term position
The School & Location
The role is based within a mainstream secondary school in Havering, with good transport links from Romford, Hornchurch, Rainham, Upminster and surrounding East London and Essex areas. This would particularly suit someone who enjoys the variety of supporting different students across the school day, rather than working exclusively with one pupil.
