Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Further Education
Experienced Teaching Assistant – Special Needs Further Education College
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at a special needs further education college. This full-time role runs from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM, starting immediately after the February half-term.
Our students, aged 16-25 years, all have Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and have been referred by their local authority. You will be supporting learners with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and/or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), helping them develop independent learning, social, and life skills. Working closely with tutors and support staff, you will play a key role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages engagement and builds confidence in both academic and vocational activities.
To be successful in this role, you must have experience supporting young people with SEMH and/or ASD. Experience in a college or further education setting would be an advantage. A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach to learning and behaviour management is essential, along with strong communication and teamwork skills.
