Axcis Education is recruiting for dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Southport from September 2026. This is a full-time Teaching Assistant job in Southport, working Monday to Friday, 8:45am–3:30pm. The successful candidate will provide dedicated 1:1 SEND support to children in a Reception class with complex additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and other SEND needs. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or childcare professional looking for a rewarding role supporting children with additional needs in a primary school setting. This is a temp to permanent role, working a set number of weeks on supply through Axcis before joining the school on a permanent basis About the 1:1 Teaching Assistant Role As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide consistent, nurturing and individualised support to one or more children within the Reception classroom. The children have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including: • Autism / ASC • ADHD • Learning difficulties • Complex additional needs • Behavioural needs • Communication and social difficulties Some personal care and toileting support will be required as part of the role.You will help children access learning, develop their communication and social skills, build independence and feel safe and supported throughout the school day. The school is looking for a patient, caring and proactive Teaching Assistant who can build strong relationships with children and adapt their approach to meet individual needs. Alongside your 1:1 responsibilities, you may also support with: • Small group interventions • General classroom support within Reception • Supporting children during playtimes and lunchtimes • Supporting pupils during transitions • Encouraging communication, independence and social development About the School This is a friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school in Southport with a strong commitment to inclusion and supporting pupils with additional needs.
