Job Description:
Axcis is recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant for a mainstream primary school in Hillingdon, Uxbridge. This full-time role focuses on providing 1:1 support for a Year 1 student with Autism. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with Autism in a educational setting and be comfortable managing challenging behaviour. The school is seeking someone who is firm yet fair, setting clear boundaries while fostering a nurturing and supportive learning environment.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in SEN support to make a positive impact on a student’s educational journey. The school is highly regarded and located conveniently near Hillingdon Station, with the potential for a permanent position after the first year.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide 1:1 classroom support to a Year 1 student with ASD.
-Manage challenging behaviour by setting clear boundaries while maintaining a calm and supportive environment.
-Work closely with the class teacher to implement tailored learning strategies suited to the student's needs.
-Build strong, positive relationships with the student, staff, and parents.
-Support the student’s social, emotional, and academic development, encouraging positive behaviour and engagement.
Requirements:
-Enhanced DBS on the update service.
Proven experience working with children with ASD and ADHD in a mainstream school.
-Strong behaviour management skills, with the ability to handle challenging behaviour.
-Experience with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills with a patient and proactive approach.
-Full-time availability, Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 4:00pm, for at least the full academic year.
