Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Position: Teaching Assistant (ASD)
Location: Southall (excellent rail links)
Hours: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday
Day Rate: Competitive, based on experience
Role Overview:
Axcis Education is seeking a compassionate and experienced Autism Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Southall. You will be providing one-on-one support to a child with autism who is experiencing behavioural challenges. Despite these difficulties, the child is curious, responsive to praise, and thrives in environments where adults show genuine interest in them. The successful candidate will work closely with the student to create an inclusive, supportive learning space, helping them navigate their challenges while encouraging curiosity and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide personalised, one-on-one support, using tailored strategies to manage challenging behaviours and foster positive reinforcement.
-Assist in classroom activities, ensuring the child's participation and engagement.
-Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and specialists to implement and adapt personalised learning plans.
-Use praise and positive reinforcement to build trust and motivate the child.
-Monitor and report on the child’s progress, documenting behavioural changes and learning milestones.
Requirements:
-Experience working with children with autism or special educational needs, especially in managing challenging behaviours.
-Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to build rapport with children.
-Empathy, resilience, and a passion for supporting children in their educational journey.
SEN qualifications or relevant training are desirable.
-A DBS on the update service is essential.
