A specialist SEND school in Solihull is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a highly supportive environment, helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual potential.
The Role
• Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including Autism, ADHD, communication needs, and learning difficulties.
• Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum through tailored support and differentiated activities.
• Promote positive social, emotional, and behavioural development.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to implement individual learning and support plans.
• Support pupils during classroom activities, breaktimes, educational visits, and other aspects of school life.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and the development of life skills.
• Record observations and provide feedback on pupil progress where required.
• Support with personal care and intimate care needs when necessary, ensuring pupils are treated with dignity and respect at all times.
About You
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND is desirable.
• A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to adapt to the individual needs of pupils.
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
• Experience in care, support work, education, or similar settings would be advantageous.
• Relevant qualifications are welcomed but not essential for candidates with suitable experience.
